New Delhi: Hours after Khalistan flags were found tied on the main gate and boundary wall of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in Dharamshala, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas in an indirect attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said the nation must remember his warning, adding he cautioned the same during the Punjab Assembly elections.
“The country must remember my warning. I had said at the time of Punjab (Assembly polls). He now has his eyes on the other state. I had warned earlier also, I am saying it again now,” he tweeted in Hindi.
Earlier in the day, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur condemned the Khalistan flag being tied to the Vidhan Sabha gate.
Calling it a “cowardly incident”, Thakur said it will be investigated quickly and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
“Himachal is a cordial state and peace should prevail here. The culprits involved in the Dharamsala incident will be caught soon wherever they are. The cowardly of those people will not last long. Certainly strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of this incident,” Thakur wrote on the micro-blogging platform in Hindi.
“I condemn the cowardly incident of raising Khalistan flags at the gate of Dharamshala assembly complex in the night. There is only winter session in this assembly, so there is a need for more security arrangements here during that time,” he said in a series of tweets.
Dharamshala Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shilpi Beakta said they are investigating the matter, adding it is like a “wake-up call” to work with more alertness.
“We are inquiring about the matter and a case will be registered under relevant sections of the Himachal Pradesh Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985. This is like a wake-up call for us to work with more alertness,” ANI quoted Beakta as saying.
Kangra Superintendent of Police on his part said that it might have been put up late at night or early Sunday morning.
"We have removed the Khalistan flags from the Vidhan Sabha gate. It could be an act of some tourists from Punjab. We are going to register a case today," he told ANI.
