New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday promised that if voted to power in Gujarat, the party will give a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to all women above the age of 18 years, if they are willing to accept such a grant, news agency PTI reported.

According to the report, this is the fifth “guarantee” Kejriwal has given to the people as a part of his ongoing election campaign in Gujarat. Notably, the Gujarat Assembly elections are due by the end of this year.

“Rs 1,000 (per month allowance) is not revdi (freebie). This is your right. People’s money should go to the people, not in the Swiss bank,” said the AAP leader, while making the announcement in front of hundreds of women in Ahmedabad.

It is to be noted that earlier, the AAP leader had promised free electricity up to 300 units to each family and Rs 3,000 per month to unemployed youths if his party comes to power in the state.

According to the report, this is Arvind Kejriwal's 10th visit to the state in the last four months and the third within 10 days.

Prior to this, the Delhi Chief Minister had visited Surat and Veraval in Gir Somnath, and then, Jamnagar and Chhota Udepur.

Earlier on August 7, Kejriwal had held a rally in Bodeli where he slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress and made a bunch of promises, ranging from providing a free electricity supply to improving the healthcare services in the state.

Speaking at the rally, Arvind Kejriwal, as quoted by news agency ANI, had said, "Change the politics of Gujarat. This (I Love You) ILU-ILU politics of BJP and Congress will stop. Voting for Congress means voting for BJP. Congress leaders will switch to BJP before or after elections. This election is directly between AAP and BJP."
