Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will meet their counterpart Hemant Soren in Ranchi Today to seek support in their fight against the ordinance over control of administrative services in the national capital. All three leaders will hold a meet after which they are expected to speak at a joint press conference, reported PTI.
On Thursday, both the leaders met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in order to seek his support. After meeting him, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "This Bill should be defeated in Rajya Sabha. Stalin extended his support to us. DMK will stand by the people of Delhi."
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already got the support of CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar as well as his deputy Tejaswi Yadav have also backed the Delhi CM in this regard.
The Centre had on May 19 promulgated the ordinance to create an authority for the transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi despite the Supreme Court verdict on control of services. The AAP government called it a deception with the Supreme Court verdict and decided to oppose it for which it has been gathering support.
The ordinance came a week after the apex court handed over the control of services in Delhi, excluding police, public order and land, to Aam Aadmi Party government of Arvind kejriwal.
Transfer and postings of all officers of the Delhi government were under the executive control of the lieutenant governor before the apex court's May 11 verdict on control of services.
