New Delhi: Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, president of the right-wing group Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead in Jaipur on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the incident took place at Gogamedi’s residence in Jaipur’s Shyam Nagar.

Three assailants, one of whom was killed in retaliatory firing, first had tea with Gogamedi at his house and then opened fire at him.

The entire indent was recorded on a CCTV camera installed in the room.

"3-4 men came to his (Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi's) house and tell the security guards that they want to meet Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. The guard takes them inside, and after having tea, they opened fire at him," said former Rajput Karni Sena state president Ajit Singh Mamdoli.

Gogamedi was subsequently transferred to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, ANI reported.

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang member Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the murder. In a Facebook post, Godara said that he takes full responsibility for the murder.

Who Was Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi?

Gogamedi was a member of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, which was founded by the late Lokendra Singh Kalvi in 2006.

The organization gained widespread attention in 2018 during protests against the film "Padmaavat," featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Karni Sena activists vehemently opposed the film, calling for its ban.

Gogamedi is said to have played a significant role in the protests.

Additionally, the organization protested the police encounter of the notorious gangster Anandpal Singh in Rajasthan.

A disagreement between Sukhdev Singh and the founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi led to the establishment of the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena by Sukhdev Singh in 2015, after separating from Shri Rajput Karni Sena.

Who Is Gangster Rohit Godara?

Rohit Godara, a notorious gangster from Rajasthan, is closely associated with the gangs of Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. He is currently on the run and is believed to be in Canada.

Godara is implicated in 32 cases, including the murder of gangster Raju Theet and several other incidents. According to the police, Godara has allegedly amassed wealth ranging from Rs 5 to 17 crore through extortion from businessmen in Rajasthan.

In addition to this, Godara's name also surfaced in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

In June last year, Godara allegedly fled to Dubai using a forged passport under the name Pavan Kumar, leading to an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued against him.
