The Congress party is ready to move on with the joint efforts to win the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections after extensive deliberations and meetings with Karnataka leaders in Delhi, news agency ANI reported.
Karnataka Congress chairman DK Shivakumar and Congress legislative party leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with the party's senior leadership for two days at Rahul Gandhi's house to plan future tactics for the approaching elections. Randeep Surjewala, AICC Karnataka's in-charge, was also present at the meeting.

According to reports, one section of the state leadership believes the party should not announce a candidate for Chief Minister and instead support the collective leadership in the next elections.
According to insiders, the Congress believes that this time, joint efforts are greatly needed to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, and that it is critical to go unified in the electoral struggle to win the vital southern state.
The Karnataka Congress will shortly commence its campaign in the state.
Karnataka's Assembly elections are scheduled for next year.
In the results of the biennial elections to the upper House, the BJP gained three Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka, the Congress secured one, and the Janata Dal-Secular drew a blank. Jairam Ramesh, a senior Congress politician, was elected to the Rajya Sabha. However, the second candidate nominated by Congress did not win the election.
