Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann made a shocking statement against BJP MP Kangana Ranaut over her "rapes were taking place during farmers' protests" remark. The former Akali MP on Thursday said that Kangana Ranaut should explain how rape takes place.

"I don't want to say it, but if she has too much 'experience' with rape, she should explain how it happens," Simranjit Singh Mann said at a media interaction. When asked to explain his "experience" comment, Simranjit Singh Mann said, "Just as you gain experience from riding a bicycle, they have experience with rape."

Kangana Ranaut courted controversy recently when she alleged that "bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place" during the farmers' 2019-20 farmers' protest. Speaking in a podcast interaction, she also said that foreign powers were behind the prolonged protests against the three contentious farm laws that have now been scrapped.

Kangana was also summoned by the party's high command on Thursday. She met president JP Nadda amid the backlash over her comments. The two spoke for nearly 30 minutes.

The BJP was quick to distance itself from her comments, clarifying that the Kangana was neither authorised nor had the party's permission to speak on its policy matters. "The statement made by BJP MP Ms. Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' protest does not reflect the party's stance," the BJP said in a statement.

Kangana later agreed to the BJP's response and said she would choose her words carefully.

Kangana Responds To Akali Leader's Comment

Kangana Ranaut, the BJP's MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, slammed the Akali leader for his comments. She said: "It seems this country will never stop trivialising rape. Today, this senior politician compared getting raped to riding a bicycle."

"No wonder rapes and violence against women for fun is so deep-rooted in the psyche of this patriarchal nation that it is casually used to tease or mock women even if she is a high-profile film-maker or politician," she said.
