Hours after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sent people to burn down the police station and public property and brutally beat up women police personnel in yesterday's clash at Kaliaganj, the BJP reacted on Wednesday, saying that it is the Bengal CM's failure that she is attempting to cover up by blaming them (BJP). State party chief Sukanta Majumdar questioned if Mamata stands with the family of the victim, then why is she not supporting their demand for a CBI investigation.
The incident, according to the party's state chief, is a failure of the Mamata-led government and of Mamata as the state's Home Minister. "Mamata Banerjee thinks we were involved in Kaliaganj violence. This is her failure which she wants to pin on us. If people are coming from outside, under whom do the Police force & Home Dept come? If what she says is true, she should resign," Majumdar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
