Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Bharatiya Janata Party’s win in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council elections on Sunday. In a Twitter post, PM Modi also assured that the party will continue to work for the progress of the state.
“Historic results in Karbi Anglong! I thank the people for their continuous faith in BJP and assure them that we will keep working for Assam’s progress. The efforts of BJP Karyakartas have been outstanding. Kudos to them,” PM Modi tweeted.
In his tweet, PM Modi shared Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tweet. Sarma wrote in his tweet, “We bow before people of Karbi Anglong for giving @BJP4Assam a historic mandate in KAAC polls 2nd time in a row. After wins in urban body & GMC polls, this huge victory is a true affirmation of public trust in Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas.”
“This unprecedented mandate has given us even a bigger responsibility to live up to people’s expectations. Under the guidance of Adarniya PM, Adarniya HM Shri @AmitShah ji & Adarniya @BJP4India Adhyaksh Shri @JPNadda ji, we'll work for overall growth & development of Karbi Anglong,” Sarma further added.
The BJP on Sunday won all the 26 seats in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in Assam to retain power in the hill council for the second successive term.
The elections for 26 seats of the two-district council KAAC were held on June 8. Post the election result on June 12, the Assam Election Commission issued a press release saying, “The Counting of votes for 26 (twenty-six) Constituencies of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Election, 2022 was held peacefully today (12.06.2022). All the 26 (twenty-six) Constituencies have been won by the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
