In an interesting spectacle, Scindia was seen greeting Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad, after taking oath as the member of Parliament, setting aside their political hostilities for a while.
It is pertinent to note that earlier this month, both Digvijay Singh and Scindia were locked in a war of words over Madhya Pradesh politics. Singh's attack on Scindia came a day after the expansion of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s cabinet which saw a lion's share of berths going to the supporters of the former Guna MP who joined the BJP in March.
On Wednesday, 44 newly-elected members of the House took oath of office in Rajya Sabha chamber while physical distancing norms.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu urged the newly-elected members of the House who took oath on Wednesday not to fall prey to disruptions and to uphold rules and procedures while discharging their duties as lawmakers.
The new members, include 36 first timers: Priyanka Chaturvedi, who last year quit the Congress to join the Shiv Sena; Jyotiraditya Scindia, who dumped the Congress earlier this year to join the BJP; and Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil, to name few.
