New Delhi: Two terrorists have been decimated by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.


As per initial reports, the security forces have surrounded the area and a search operation in underway to track more terrorists.

A brief encounter took place in the Bijbehara area of the Anantnag in which the two terrorists were gunned down. The forces had launched a search operation in Banger Mohalla in Banger Mohalla after receiving credible inputs and during searches a brief exchange of fire took place.

"In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter." an official informed.

The two terrorists were neutralized in Bagender Mohalla of Bijbehara in Anantnag. They have been identified as Safder Amin Bhat and Burhan Ahmad Ganie.

Safder Amin Bhat was 25 years old and a resident of Zirpara in Bijbehara. He joined Hizbul on May 12, 2017.

Burhan Ganie was also 25 years in age and had completed studies till class 12. He was undergoing Bachelor of Physiotherapy. He was a resident of Malipora in Kulgam. He was associated with Hizbul Mujahideen and was active since June 24, 2018
Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site, the official added. One AK rifle and one SLR has bee recovered, as per ANI.


Further search is going on in the area.

So far, security forces have neutralised 71 terrorists this year.

Terrorist arrested in Baramulla accepts LeT links:

On Wednesday, a Pakistani militant belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit who was tasked with reviving militancy in certain areas of the Kashmir valley was arrested from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir last week

Mohammad Waqar Awan,  a resident of Mohalla Miana in Mianwali area of Punjab in Pakistan, was arrested earlier this week and paraded before the media on Wednesday at the Police Control Room.

Awan, known by alias of 'Chota Dujana, told reporters that before he joined militancy, he was told that atrocities were being committed on the people of Kashmir by security forces but he saw no such thing in the Valley.
