J&K: Two Army personnel martyred in terror attack in Shopian.

New Delhi: In a saddening incident, an Indian Army Major Kamlesh Pandey and one jawan were martyred on Thursday, in a terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmi's Shopian district. The terrorists attacked their cavalcade. The Army surrounded the area and search was on. In a separate incident, two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit were killed on Thursday by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said. Police said the militants were killed in an operation by the security forces in Gopalpora village in Kulgam district. "Encounter lasted half an hour, eliminated 2 Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists who were involved in many cases," said Shridhar Patil, SSP Kulgam, J&K. "Two weapons have been recovered from the slain militants," a police officer said. "One of the slain militants was involved in the murder of five policemen and two bank guards in Pombai village in Kulgam district on May 1," the police officer added. (With inputs from agencies)
