Jharkhand police lodged an First Information Report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari and others for allegedly forcing Deoghar airport officials to clear their chartered flight for take-off on August 31. The FIR was registered at Kunda police station in Deoghar on September 1, on the complaint of security in-charge Suman Anand , reported news agency ANI.
"Deoghar Police registers an FIR against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, his 2 sons, MP Manoj Tiwari, Deoghar airport director, & others, for allegedly forcefully taking clearance from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) for take-off from Deoghar airport on August 31," said the Deoghar police, as reported by the news agency.
The complainant, security in-charge Suman Anand in the FIR stated that the said persons "forced" officials in the ATC room for clearance.
"The FIR was registered at Kunda police station on September 1, on the complaint of security in-charge Suman Anand who stated that the said persons violated all safety standards by entering the ATC room and pressured the officials for clearance to take off, said the police
Meanwhile, MP Nishikant Dubey said he had the permission to enter the ATC room and that the case was "deliberately" filed against him.
"We had taken permission from the Airport authorities. CCTV footage shows that I was going in barefoot, so my son followed me with my footwear & asked me to wear the same. Manjunath Bhajantri deliberately filed this case," Nishikant Dubey was quoted as saying by ANI.
"Director says no rules were violated & everything was done on time. ATC, AAI, BCAS, DGCA aren't filing a case but DC Deoghar is citing laws. Why's he doing that? The night landing facility matter he is talking about will be heard on 15 Sept. He filed wrong affidavit, he added.
The newly inaugurated Deoghar airport is not yet cleared for night operations. Flight services at the airport are allowed only till 30 minutes before sunset.
