New Delhi: JDU on Thursday presented a seat sharing formula to ally BJP for the upcoming 2019 general election. As per sources, a 50-50% seat sharing formula has been presented by JDU. As per sources, the 50-50 sharing of seats will be done between BJP and JDU after they have been divided among other allies.
This comes after several reports of Nitish’s unhappiness with BJP over seat sharing floated, but Bihar CM had maintained his silence over the same.
Prashant Kishor likely to do negotiations:
Poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, who has been appointmented as the national vice-president of JD(U) is likely to do the seat sharing negotiations on behalf of Nitish’s JDU.
Kishor had first come into the limelight when he managed the poll campaign of Narendra Modi then the BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections held in 2014. He parted ways with the BJP later on and worked for Kumar, who returned to power with a thumping majority the following year.
The NDA in Bihar also comprises the LJP and the RLSP, headed by Union ministers Ram Vilas Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha respectively.
The NDA, which had won 31 of the 40 seats in Bihar in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, is witnessing claims and counter-claims made by leaders of the constituents after the JD(U) returned to its fold. The old partners -- the BJP, the LJP and the RLSP -- had won 22, six and three seats respectively, while the JD(U), which had contested the polls separately with the Left parties, had managed to win only two seats.
