A Janata Dal (United) (JDU) leader was murdered on Monday in Maua village of Parvalpur police station area in Bihar's Nalanda district. According to a report by ANI, 62-year-old Anil Kumar, who served as a polling agent in the Lok Sabha election this year, was found in an injured condition early this morning. 


In the report, Hilsa Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-Nalanda Gopal Krishna said, “On June 3, in Maua village of Parvalpur police station area, Anil Kumar was found in an injured condition around 4.30 am. After that, his family took him to a primary health centre in Parvalpur. From there he was transferred to Sadar Hospital in Bihar Sharif. However, he could not be saved.”


According to the family, some people ambushed the JD(U) leader when he left home in the morning to head to his farm. They said the assailants beat up Anil Kumar and killed him with a sharp object.morning

The family also alleged that, on the day of polling in their area, Anil Kumar "received death threats from the Rashtriya Janata Dal". The allegation was also echoed by JD(U) leader Kaushalendra Kumar.


“It was a brutal murder and I condemn it. I would say to his family to take care of themselves and have courage. We will also speak to the DSP to take appropriate action and arrest the criminals involved in the incident soon,” said Kaushalendra Kumar. 


Nalanda DM Shashank Shubhankar was quoted as saying in an ANI post on X that they "have come here to investigate the matter".






"After this, we will head out to the village to question people. The accused will soon be punished... The exact reason will be revealed only after an investigation... The deceased was a polling agent," he added.
