The gunfight between the terrorists and security forces broke out after a team of Jammu & Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Dadura following specific inputs about the presence of the terrorists in the area. According to the reports, a massive cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK-47s rifles were recovered during the operation.
This was the second encounter in South Kashmir in last 24 hours. Two unidentified terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Media reports say that the encounter between terrorists and security forces got underway after the area was cordoned off and a search operation was started by the security forces on the basis of specific intelligence information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
While two militants have been killed, according to reports, one is still hiding and the forces have started a search operation to locate the militant.

After the security forces personnel zeroed onto the spot where terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter. "Encounter has started at Chingam area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job," said a police officer in a report by IANS.
