The forces retaliated leading to an encounter in which a militant was killed, the official added. He further informed the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra was being ascertained.

Later, another militant was neutralised in a separate encounter between ultras and security forces in the Bemina area of Srinagar in the evening.

In the encounter in Srinagar, one unidentified terrorist was killed and an AK rifle along with ammunition was recovered, the Jammu and Kashmir police informed.
