Jammu & Kashmir Govt Sacks 6 Officials Over Terror Links, 2 Cops Among Those Dismissed

Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated six employees for their links with terrorists and for working as overground workers.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has dismissed six of its employees for their links to terrorists and working as overground workers. In another attack on terror in Jammu and Kashmir, the Committee nominated in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to investigate and recommend cases under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India recommended the dismissal of 6 employees from government service for keeping terrorist links and working as OGW.

Among the six government employees who have been dismissed from service is Hamid Wani, a teacher from Anantnag in the Kashmir Valley. Wani is alleged to have been working as district commander for the terror outfit Allah Tiger before joining the job. He also got this government job with the help from Jamaat-e-Islami.

Wani is also accused of being one of the keynote speakers of programs organized in Kashmir for anti-national activities after Burhan Wani's encounter in 2016. At the same time, Zafar Hussain Bhatt of Kishtwar district of Jammu has also been recommended for dismissal from government service.

Zafar Hussain is posted as a constable in Jammu and Kashmir police and was also arrested by NIA under the Arms Act. He is currently released on bail. He is accused of providing his car for transportation of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.

At the same time, it has been recommended to dismiss Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Kishtwar and posted as a junior assistant in the Road and Building Department. Mohammad Rafi Bhatt is alleged to accommodate and offer space to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Kishtwar district to carry out their terrorist designs. The NIA has already filed a chargesheet on him and arrested him. He's currently released on bail.

It has also been recommended to dismiss Liaquat Ali Kakru, a teacher from Baramulla in Kashmir. Kakru joined a government job in 1983 and was arrested in 2001. He is alleged to have been a trained terrorist and explosives were also recovered from him. A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from him in 2002. He was also charged with the Public Safety Act in 2002. Though the court released him from all charges, two grenades were also recovered from him in 2021.

The administration has also recommended the dismissal of Tariq Mohammad Kohli of Poonch district of Jammu. Kohli is posted as a range officer in the Jammu and Kashmir forest department. He is alleged to have been involved in illegal smuggling of arms, ammunition and Indian currency. He is also alleged to have been in touch with active terrorists operating in Poonch area and, according to police records, he also worked as an overground worker for several terrorist organizations.

The administration has also recommended the dismissal of Shaukat Ahmed Khan of Badgam in Kashmir, posted as a constable in Jammu and Kashmir police. He is alleged to have been involved in the loot of weapons from the house of an MLC of the Jammu and Kashmir government. He was also arrested under the Public Safety Act in 2019.
