New Delhi: A minibus fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Wednesday. Eleven people have been reported dead in the accident, as per ANI. Many were injured, and six severly injured have been airlifted to Jammu for further treatment. This accident happened in the Sawjian area of ​​Poonch.


Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, visited Poonch District Hospital to inquire about the health of civilians injured in a road accident today. He also stated that six seriously injured people have been airlifted to Jammu for treatment, and that such seriously injured people would be given an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh.






All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Mandi. The Tehsildar of Mandi told ANI that the passengers injured in the bus accident are being treated and army has been called on the spot. 


“A mini-bus accident occurred in the Sawjian area of Poonch. Army's rescue operation is underway; 11 died, 25 were injured in the accident, and many injured were shifted to a hospital in Mandi. Further details awaited”: Mandi Tehsildar Shehzad Latif told ANI. 



Following the news of the mishap, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for family members of the deceased. Also directed authorities to provide the best treatment to those injured.
