In a similar accident, a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus plunged into a gorge in the Cuddalore region of Tamil Nadu, injuring up to 86 passengers, including women and children.

The bus was on its way from Vriddachalam to Seppakkumal. The victims were taken to Vriddachalam General Hospital.

According to Inspector Murugesan of Vriddachalam, the accident may have occurred because the bus was carrying more passengers than it could accommodate.
