Two people lost their lives and 25 others were injured when a bus veered off the road and plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge in the hilly area of the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The incident took place near Bhatyas around 10:25 am when the private mini-bus was traveling from Bhalessa to Thathri, officials reported.
They noted that one woman was found dead at the scene by rescuers, while another lost his life from her injuries at a hospital. Nine other injured individuals, who are in serious condition, are under medical treatment at the Government Medical College in Doda, officials added, news agency PTI reported.

J-K Bus Accident May Be Caused By Malfunction In Vehicle
Deputy Commissioner of Doda district, Harvinder Singh stated that the reason for this accident appeared to be a malfunction in the vehicle, and said, "Two people were killed in the accident. 4 were critically injured and 5 others were referred to the hospital. We have referred a total of 9 people to the GMC (Government Medical College) Doda. The reason for the accident seems to be a malfunction in the bus."
He further appreciated the driver's efforts and also said, "The driver tried his best to avoid the accident. We appreciate his efforts. However, we lost 2 lives in the accident. A total of 26 people were injured, including 2 children... We have referred serious patients to GMC Doda."
