  • He also urged the protesters to stop the protests for it is creating a lot of trouble for the state. “We urge protesters to withdraw their protest immediately” said Tamil Nadu CM O. Panneerselvam

  • He added that “TN Govt sent draft of amendment to MHA this morning. I believe draft would be approved in 1-2 days which will pave way for Jalikattu”

  • CM also said that he has put senior officials to work with the centre on Jallikattu. “To take up the draft of the amendment further with the Union Govt, I have deputed senior officials of the state to work with Centre”

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declined to issue the pro-jallikattu central ordinance that chief minister O. Panneerselvam and the protesters had sought.

PM Modi's plea was that the matter was sub judice: the apex court is to soon decide on the validity of a 2016 central notification that had allowed jallikattu but which the court had immediately stayed.
