Terrorist organisations have recruited 700 Jammu and Kashmir youngsters in the last four years, while 141 terrorists, the most of whom are foreigners, are now operating in the union territory, according to officials, news agency PTI reported.
The presence of a significant number of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir suggests that infiltration from terror launch pads across the border continues unabated.
According to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, there were 82 foreign terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir as of July 5, 2022, with 59 active local terrorists.
According to the statistics, the terrorists are largely from Lashkar-e-Taiba, its spinoff The Resistance Front, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
In the previous four years, different terror groups have recruited 700 local teenagers in Jammu and Kashmir: 187 in 2018, 121 in 2019, 181 in 2020, and 142 in 2021.
Terror organisations have recruited 69 kids into their ranks by the end of June this year.
So far this year, security personnel have killed 125 terrorists in 55 engagements. There were 91 natives and 34 foreigners among them.
In addition, 123 terrorists were detained during these engagements, and huge amounts of weapons and ammunition were confiscated from their custody.
According to the report, 172 terrorists were detained in Jammu & Kashmir in 2021, 251 in 2020, 148 in 2019, and 185 in 2018.
So far this year, two security officers have been killed and 23 have been wounded in terror attacks. This year, twenty people have been killed in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
This year, there have been eight grenade attacks in J&K.
In 2021, 146 terrorists, three security officers, and 41 civilians were murdered in terror attacks in J&K, according to statistics. In 2020, 215 terrorists, 19 security personnel, and 38 civilians were murdered. In 2019, 148 terrorists, 49 security personnel, and 46 civilians were murdered, compared to 185 terrorists, seven security personnel, and 72 civilians in 2018.
According to the data, 63 security officers were injured in terror attacks in 2021, 165 in 2020, 376 in 2019, and 765 in 2018.
