Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said on Saturday that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is at an all-time low, with the Jammu region largely free of the menace due to the proactive approach of security forces and public collaboration.






He claimed that police and other security forces are constantly foiling Pakistani conspiracies to disrupt the Union Territory's peaceful atmosphere.


"According to the facts and numbers, militancy has hit its low point (in Jammu and Kashmir). Except for one district where three to four terrorists are active, the rest of Jammu region's nine districts are militancy-free," news agency PTI quoted him as saying. 


He stated that 2022 was a very successful year for security forces in their fight against terrorism. The situation is such that new recruits are compelled to consider whether the path they intend to take is worth a selection or rejection ten times over, he continued.


"We are also counselling the young boys and educating them on the conspiracies hatched by Pakistani agencies who profit from the violence in Jammu and Kashmir. They have bled J-K over the past 30 years and time has come to understand their strategy, shun the path, condemn their actions, and stand up against them," Singh said, PTI reported.


However, he stated that security forces had the public's complete support in their efforts to eradicate militancy.


"We have great public support, a huge section of the youth are behind us, and that is why militancy has dropped to its lowest level; residual militancy will also be terminated," the police chief stated.


In response to a question, he stated that security forces are more than proactive in combating militancy.


"Police and security forces are together to foil the conspiracies being hatched by Pakistani agencies from across the border to disturb the peaceful atmosphere (in Jammu and Kashmir)," stated the DGP, according to PTI.


Singh disagreed with the assertion that terrorists' attention had shifted to the Jammu region.


"It had never occurred to me that Jammu was not on their radar." They have already carried out fidayeen (suicide) attacks and other activities," he claimed.


"Three to four terrorists are active in one of Jammu's ten districts, and an operation is underway to neutralise them." "The district will also be cleaned," Singh stated.


According to the DGP, police and other security services are well aware of the threat presented by Pakistani agencies scheming to reactivate some elements in order to carry out attacks and disrupt peace.


"No day passes when a new module or conspiracy is not foiled," he remarked.
