New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency today arrested two more persons from Hyderabad after it was found that they were part of an ISIS module. The two arrests come a few weeks after the NIA had arrested five persons from Hyderabad in connection with the same case.

The NIA alleges that these persons were part of a module which had pledged its allegiance to the ISIS and they had planned on carrying out attacks in Hyderabad. Investigations had revealed that they had planned on targeting the Inorbit Mall and the IT Zone at Hyderabad.

The two persons to be arrested today are Yasir Niamatullah and Athaullah Rehman. Both have been accused of motivating the group as well raising finances.

The arrests are part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the NIA. The NIA during questioning learnt that this was the only ISIS related module in India which was ready to carry out an attack. They had prepped themselves well and could have carried out an attack at any time, the NIA had told the court while seeking their remand. Further investigations also showed that they were only planning on carrying out attacks in Hyderabad and their intention was to announce the arrival of the ISIS.

During the raids the NIA had found on them chemicals suspected to be Urea / Ammonium nitrate powder and their mixture with Sugar, as well as bottles containing mineral Acid, Acetone, Hydrogen Peroxide which are precursor substances for making deadly explosive substances.

Two semi-automatic pistols with ammunition have been recovered during the search. An airgun with telescopic sight and shooting practice target boards have also been seized during searches. In addition, a large number of digital items including six laptops, about 40 mobile phones, 32 SIM cards, and a large number of hard disks, memory cards, PEN drives, and digital tabs have been recovered.

What role did each play?

Mohammad Ibrahim Yazdani:
This 32 year old engineering graduate from Anwarul Uloom College of Engineering and Technology was one of the key members of the group. He worked in the Middle East briefly before returning to Hyderabad. After losing his job in Hyderabad, he would spend most of his time browsing the internet. It is here that he allegedly got radicalised. He also learnt to make explosives by reading up online manuals. He is the one who sourced the  hydrogen peroxide.

Mohd Iliyas Yazdani:
A graduate in computer applications he is the brother of Mohammad Ibrahim Yazdani, whom he visited daily. He worked at the Mee Seva Centre. Investigations show that he was brought into the group by his brother.

Muzaffar Hussain Rizwan
The 29 year old shoe salesman worked at Chatta Bazaar in Hyderabad. He was a tenant in the house of Yazdani. He was very close to both the brothers. During the probe he told the NIA that he was roped in by the two brothers.

Yasir Niamatullah:
A resident of Hyderabad is said to be the chief of the outfit. He is alleged to have plotted the attacks and also helped raise funds.

Athaullah Rehman:
The NIA says that he was a motivator. The NIA had been on the trail of this person since his name cropped up during the investigation. He is also said to have helped raise funds for the module. The NIA had found Rs 15 lakh in cash when a raid had been conducted last month.

Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Amoodi alias Fahad:
The 31 year old BBA graduate is considered to be one of the brains behind this module. The NIA said that he was the one who established contact with Shafi Armar the Indian handler in the ISIS. He was an expert in making bombs and had stocked up hydrogen peroxide and acetone

Habeeb Mohammad:

The 32 year old computer science engineer from Kakatiya University, Warangal worked as a system's administrator in an IT company. He then opened up an internet parlour. He was brought into the module by Fahad who would visit his parlour regularly. Mohammad was the one who had purchased the pistols and also visited Nanded and Ajmer to establish contact with explosive suppliers. He established contact with the same suppliers who had provided material to the Indian Mujahideen.

Hyderabad and the ISIS

September 11 2014: Students numbering 15 picked up in West Bengal. They were allegedly trying to cross over into Bangladesh and later reach Syria. They said that they were trying to join the ISIS.

January 15 2015:
The 32 year old Salman Mohiuddin was arrested from the airport. He was planning on going to Dubai first and later to Syria. He was radicalised by Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph and had planned on going to Syria with her.

May 3 2015:
Student from Hyderabad, Hafeez joins ISIS but is killed in Syria. He was studying in the US.

September 11 2015:
Afsha Jabeen who originally hailed from Hyderabad was deported from Abu Dhabi. She was accused of recruiting people online.

December 26 2014:
Hyderabad youth Faruqui Hussaini, Abdul Basit and Mohammad Hussain arrested by Maharashtra ATS for trying to join the ISIS.

January 22 2016:
Mohammadn Nafees Khan, Mohammad Shareef and Abu Zarar nabbed by NIA for being part of an ISIS module.
