New Delhi: As the world celebrates 'International Nurses Day', several eminent political figures like PM Narendra Modi expressed their gratitude towards these corona warriors who have been tirelessly working round the clock to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

"International Day of the Nurse is a special day to express gratitude to the phenomenal nurses working round the clock to keep our planet healthy. Presently, they are doing great work towards defeating COVID-19. We are extremely grateful to the nurses and their families," - PM Modi wrote on Twitter.


Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his gratitude, by calling nurses "the backbone of our medical sector."


Former Congress President saluted the hard work of nurses across the country and addressed them as "our unsung heroes, our first line of defence against the Covid19 virus."


Calling them the strong and pivotal pillars of the healthcare delivery system, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan thanked the representatives of nurse associations in the country in a meeting.


India salutes these underappreciated warriors of the health care system who are risking their lives and dedicatedly contributing to healing one and all.
