An IndiGo aircraft from Indore to Kanpur was grounded on Friday owing to a technical issue, according to the budget carrier, news agency ANI reported.


According to the sources, an alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers as a result of the technical snag.

An Airports Authority of India (AAI) official reported a similar instance in which an IndiGo flight from Bhopal to Mumbai was grounded earlier this month because of a technical issue.


The official said that out of the 183 people on board, 117 were changed to another flight in the evening when a trip to Delhi was cancelled.

According to a senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official, an IndiGo jet that was headed to Udaipur earlier this month turned around and returned to Delhi owing to "engine vibrations," PTI reported. 


This was the second instance of a jet returning to the Delhi airport on the same day owing to mechanical difficulties.

The official said that vibrations in engine 2 caused the IndiGo flight from Delhi to Udaipur, operated by an A320 neo aircraft, to do an air turnback. The aircraft was able to made a successful landing and was grounded.


The airline said in a statement that a technical issue caused its Airbus aircraft 6E-6264 from Delhi to Udaipur to return to Delhi.
