New Delhi: Indian Railways on Thursday announced the cancellation of all the passenger trains till August 12. In a notification issued today, Railways board stated that it has been decided that all the ticket booked for the regular time-tabled trams for the journey date from July 01, 2020 to August 12, 2020 stand cancelled. The latest announcement made today read, "regular time tables passenger services including Mail/Express, passenger and suburban services have been cancelled up to 12.08.20."

It further state that the instructions were issues for cancellation and full refunds of tickets booked in the regular time tabled trains booked for journey up to 30.06.2020 competent authority has further desired that all the ticket booked for the regular time tabled train for the journey date from 01.07.20 to 12.08.20 also will be cancelled and full refund generated as per the previous letter.



IRCTC in its notification clarified that special Rajdhani and special Mail/Express trains that started from May 12 and June 01, will continue to operate.

Earlier, all bookings for regular trains were stopped till May 17, till lockdown 3.0 remains in force.

While resuming the trains earlier this month, the railway board had appealed the passengers with co-morbidities and other vulnerabilities to refrain from travelling in trains unless it is essential as the Coronavirus pandemic is worsening.

According to the appeal from the Ministry of Railways, "in order to protect vulnerable persons from COVID 19, in line with MHA directives, Ministry of Railways makes an appeal that persons with co-morbidities (such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and immunodeficiency diseases), pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years and persons above 65 years may avoid travel by rail, except when it is essential," the notice read.
