India on Wednesday witnessed a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases as it recorded 10,542 new cases in the last 24 hours. With the numbers in, the active caseload in the country now stands at 63,562. As per the data of Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, a total of 487 vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours. This included 23 first doses, 31 second doses and 251 precaution doses.


On Tuesday, the country saw a slight dip with 7,633 fresh cases of Covid-19. On Monday, the country logged 9,111 new cases of Covid-19, while the active cases had climbed to 60,313 and the death toll rose to 5,31,141 with 27 deaths, according to the health ministry data. 


Covid-19 Advisory In West Bengal


Amid rising Coronavirus cases across the country, the West Bengal government issued Covid 19 advisory on Tuesday. According to the new advisory, mass gatherings especially by the elderly, children, pregnant women and persons with co-morbidities have been prohibited. Proper use of mask irrespective of age has been made compulsory at crowded areas.


"As far as possible, please use proper mask irrespective of age" if compelled to enter a crowd, the advisory read.


The government has also urged people to frequently wash their hands and use alcohol based sanitizers to kill the virus.


People who have not yet taken booster dose of Covid vaccine have been advised to take it immediately. Anyone found Covid positive have been urged to isolate themselves at home for one week and follow home management guidelines for Covid. And if the situation deteriorates, they have been asked to immediately report to a nearby hospital.
