New Delhi: China has been investing heavily in the military infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) opposite Eastern Ladakh which has raised India’s concerns over the buildup by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), reported news agency ANI.

According to ANI, India had raised concern over the matter during the recent talks between the countries. The reason for concern for India is that China is building highways and connecting roads, and establishing settlements on its side. They have also reportedly deployed heavy weaponry and missile regiments on the border.

The military upgrade is rather significant for India as they are widening highways and constructing new airstrips apart from the main bases at Kashgar, Gul Gunsa, and Hotan.

Sources told ANI that a major wide highway is being developed which will improve connectivity between Chinese military posts and the mainland. Their focus is on keeping the army and airforce out of the reach of American satellites.

Simultaneously, they are also recruiting the Tibetans along with the mainland Han troops as it is easier for the Tibetans to survive in the difficult terrains, which poses a problem for the mainland troops.

While the Chinese are better prepared for the winters this year in terms of equipment, shelters, road connectivity, and acclimatisation, sources revealed that India is also well prepared for any upcoming situation.

As per the ANI report, India has also diverted many of its Pakistan-centric armed forces towards the high-altitude areas and several other measures have been taken to strengthen troops to combat the extreme winters.
