New Delhi: After days of respite, once again India has started to report a surge in its daily count of Coronavirus cases. As per the Union Health Ministry bulletin, the country witnessed 44,643 new COVID-19 cases and 464 deaths in the last 24 hours while 41,096 Covid infected patients recovered.
With a total of 3,10, 15,844 recoveries across the country so far, the recovery rate is currently at 97.36%.
India's Active caseload currently stands at 4,14,159. The Centre said that the Active cases continue 1.30% of total cases. The weekly positivity rate remains below 5%, currently at 2.14% while daily positivity rate is at 2.72%.
The Centre said that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered across India has gone past 49 crore with over 50.29 lakh (50,29,573) vaccine doses administered in the past 24 hours. In the provisional report compiled at 7 pm (Thursday), the government said that 27,26,494 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years received the first dose, while 4,81,823 were given the second dose yesterday.
Cumulatively, 16,92,68,754persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and total 1,07,72,537have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) meanwhile informed that the total samples tested upto August 5 are 47,65,33,650. Of these, as many as 16,40,287 samples for Covid-19 were tested in the last 24 hours.
