New Delhi: As India celebrates its 70th Independence day on August 15, 2016; the stage is set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unfurl the National flag and deliver his iconic speech to the country at the Red Fort. This will be Narendra Modi’s third Independence Day speech as a Prime Minister.


Ahead of Independence day celebrations, PM extended his wishes to the country via Twitter.




PM also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, before reaching Red Fort.

Even Home Minister Rajnath Singh joined the celebrations by unfurling the tricolour at his residence.

The country became independent from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947. The day is celebrated with great fervour across the Nation. The whole country observes a National holiday on the day, and important monuments like President House are lit up.
