Weather Update: As Fresh Spell Of Rain Hits Delhi-NCR Today, Here's The IMD Forecast For Next 5 Days

The IMD has said that the national capital is set to witness rainfall and the sky will remain cloudy in the next five days.

Weather Update: Rain continued to lash the Delhi-NCR region on Thursday. A fresh brief spell of showers lashed the region on Thursday. The national capital is likely to witness ight to moderate rainfall in the coming days accompanied by thunderstorms, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest bulletin on Thursday.

The temperature in the city is likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was recorded at 95 percent at 8:30 AM. The weather office has forecast a generally cloudy sky and more showers till August 13.

On Wednesday, several parts of the national capital were lashed by rains, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas. The Mayur Vihar weather station recorded 46 mm rainfall between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm. The three other weather stations of the city -- Najafgarh, Lodhi Road and Safdarjung, the main weather observatory -- recorded 26 mm, 20.4 mm and 12 mm rainfall respectively.

Visuals coming from different areas showed flooded roads as commuters waded through water to their destinations, as reported by news agency PTI. Extensive waterlogging was witnessed in many areas, leading to traffic snarls on several stretches.

Weather Forcast Across North India

Besides the Delhi/NCR region, other parts of north India are also likely to witness widespread moderate rainfall. According to the weather office, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are set to receive showers in the coming week. As far as parts of Northwest India are concerned, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive rainfall till August 11.

Rain Forecast In East & Northeast India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted light to moderate showers in several parts of East and Northeast India in the coming week.

The Met Department said that very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya on August 8 and 9. Showers are also predicted in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from August 8 to 14. Parts of Bihar and West Bengal are also likely to receive rainfall in the next three days.
