After the national capital witnessed dust storms, strong winds, and rain in various parts on Friday, due to the new active western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department has now forecasted that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur over Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan during the next three hours.








Besides these states, the weather department has also forecasted light rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning to also likely occur over south Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, south-east Arunachal Pradesh, south-east Assam, Manipur, south interior Karnataka, and Kerala during next three hours today.

Light Rain And Thunderstorms Likely In Northern Plains From May 10-13



An approaching western disturbance was expected to lead to isolated light rain and thunderstorms in the northern plains from Friday to Monday and will settle the maximum temperatures in the range of below 40 degreses Celsius in places such as Delhi.


IMD stated that due to the cyclonic circulations lying over northeast and northwest Rajasthan at lower tropospheric levels, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are likely to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) until May 13.


Isolated places over uttarakhand are also likely to witness hailstorm activity until May 13.


Due to this, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Punjab are likely to receive isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km per hour) from May 10 to 13. Uttar Pradesh from May 9-13 and Rajasthan from May 10-12 are expected to witness similar weather, according to IMD.




The weather department has also forecasted strong surface winds (30-40 kmph) very likely to prevail in the plains of northwest India during the next three days. East Uttar Pradesh is very likely to witness dust storms and thunderstorms with gusty winds until May 13, while Rajasthan will witness similar weather from May 10-13, West UP from May 11 to 13, and Haryana-Chandigarh until May 13.


West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds (40-50 kmph) until May 12.


The weather department has also forecasted scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand, until Sunday.
