IMD expects Himachal Pradesh to witness light to moderate rainfall today. 

Heavy rains pelted sections of Mumbai on Monday morning, but public transit in the city was unaffected, officials said. The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Mumbai office issued a 'yellow' alert for the city on Monday, anticipating severe rainfall in isolated areas, according to a civic official. On the other hand, IMD expects Himachal Pradesh to witness light to moderate rainfall today.

• "'Orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall issued in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Pune districts till July 21. 'Yellow' alert issued in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Satara, Aurangabad, Jalna, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal for tomorrow," said Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai. 

• "Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected to occur over a few places in Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi districts today and heavy rainfall is expected in Kullu district," IMD said. 


• Heavy rain fell in Mahalakshmi, Byculla, Malabar Hill, Matunga, Sion, Bandra, Santacruz, Andheri, and other locations early in the morning, although the intensity of the rain decreased around 8 a.m. According to local officials, no serious flooding was recorded anywhere in the city of Mumbai, PTI reported.


• According to the officials, local trains were running routinely on the Central Railway and Western Railway routes. Due to the rain, there was no route diversion of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking's bus services, according to a civic official.


• According to the IMD, active monsoon conditions are anticipated to dominate over central and adjoining East India over the next five days, with heavy rainfall anticipated over Jharkhand and Odisha over the next 24 hours; over eastern Madhya Pradesh during July 16-18; over western Madhya Pradesh and the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra on July 16 and 18; and over Chhattisgarh on July 16-17.


• According to IMD, similar rainfall activity is expected in Goa and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra from July 18-20, and in Gujarat from July 19-20.
