Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters at New Delhi, Amit Shah accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of spreading violence in West Bengal during the polls as it is desperate to garner votes, even at the cost of spreading violence.
Showing photographs to prove that Trinamool Congress workers broke the statue of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, Shah said, “the college gates were closed, room was locked … who opened the lock, BJP workers did not enter the college.”
Shah made a pointed statement by saying that West Bengal is the only state where violence has happened across all phases. He questioned Mamata Banerjee, inquiring if BJP workers were resorting to spreading violence then it should have happened it all the states and not only West Bengal.
Shah said that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in West Bengal fears losing the general elections and therefore their party workers are spreading violence across the phases in the state.
Shah dint hold back at the election commission, saying that the poll body acts as a mere spectator wheneever elections are held in Bengal and turned a blind eye to all the violence which has happened in the poll season.
Responding to a question on how will the BJP-led NDA fare in the general elections, Amit Shah exuded confidence that the BJP will cross the 300-seat mark on its own and form the govt at the Centre. Speaking specifically in refrence to West Bengal, Shah said that BJP will make massive inroads by winning 23 out of the 42 seats in the state.
