Hyderabad: Days after a woman veterinarian was brutally gang-raped and murdered in the outskirts of Hyderabad, a magistrate in Telangana's Shadnagar town sent all four accused in the gruesome act to judicial remand for 2 weeks. According to sources, the magistrate ordered judicial custody of the accused as they could not be produced in the fast-track court at Mahabubnagar due to unavailability of judge and officials also informed that people in large numbers were protesting outside the police station were the accused were logged.

Sources close to ABP News also informed that the accused — Mohammed Arif, Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, Jollu Shiva and Jollu Naveen — might soon be shifted to Mahabubnagar jail keeping in mind the tensed situation prevailing outside the Shamshabad police station. Hundreds of local residents including women and students rallied outside the police station asking the officials to hand over the culprits to them.

Some protesters said these criminals had no place in the society and hence they should be killed. The police have tightened security around the station and deployed additional force to prevent violence. After repeated requests by officials failed to pacify the crowd, the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protestors. The magistrate was brought to the police station from the back door.

The 25-year-old veterinarian was gangraped and killed allegedly by two truck drivers and two cleaners near a toll plaza on Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the night of Wednesday. They later shifted the body to a place near Shadnagar town and set it afire. The charred body of the victim was found the next day.

The parents also found fault with the police for asking them inappropriate questions about their daughter like whether she had any affair. Police checked the CCTV footage, which showed Priyanka parking her two-wheeler near toll plaza before going to Gachibowli to visit a dermatologist. However, there was no footage of her return to the same place to pick up her vehicle.

The victim's sister said when she spoke to her, she did not realize that there is danger to her. "She appeared normal though she also told me that she was scared. She wanted me to speak to her for some time," she said.
