Five people suffered injuries in a violent confrontation that broke out between supporters of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Congress in Hyderabad’s Hamayunnagar area on Monday. The clash involved Congress leader Feroz Khan and Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, who have been long-time political rivals.

The incident unfolded when Feroz Khan and his supporters were visiting Bank Colony, while AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain and his team also arrived at the same location. At the time of the incident, Majid Hussain said the AIMIM cadre was on a padayatra in Nampally

Tensions quickly escalated as Hussain objected to Khan's presence, accusing Congress workers of intimidating locals and gathering details about construction projects in the area.

What began as a heated exchange soon spiraled into physical violence with both sides attacking each other. In the chaos, a man reportedly snatched a lathi from a woman constable and struck a Congress worker on the head, leading to further injuries, as reported by Telangana Today.

Videos circulating on social media captured MLA Majid Hussain hurling abuses at Congress workers adding to the tension between the two parties. Despite the presence of local police, the handful of officers at the scene struggled to contain the brawl prompting the need for reinforcements from nearby police stations to restore order.

Following the clash, there is a palpable atmosphere of tension in the area. The police have increased their presence and are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further violence.

This confrontation is rooted in the ongoing political rivalry between Feroz Khan and the AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi. Khan, a staunch opponent of the party, had contested the Lok Sabha elections against AIMIM and remains a vocal critic of the party.

Earlier, Feroz Khan contested in the polls in Nampally Assembly constituency.
