The India Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain in parts of Gujarat, including Junagarh and Porbandar. The weather office also said that several districts in Gujarat are likely to receive light rainfall. “Moderate rain very likely in Gujarat - namely Junagarh, Porbandar and Gir Somnath during next 3 hours, IMD said. 

“Light rain very likely in the districts namely Ahmadabad, Mahesana, Gandhinagar, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Khera, Anand, Vadodara, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar, Kutch and in Diu during next 3 hours,” it further said. 

A team of Fire Brigade rescued five people trapped in floodwater in state's Anand District after the water from the Mahisagar River entered the fields late at night, as reported by news agency ANI. 

On Sunday, Gujarat was grappled with heavy rainfall with flooding in numerous areas necessitating the evacuation of 9,600 people to safety. The excessive rainfall disrupted normal life, prompting authorities to block underpasses as a precautionary measure due to the waterlogged streets.

• The water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam, built on the Narmada River, reduced by 10 lakh cusecs after the water was released by opening 23 gates of the dam, as reported by news agency ANI.


• The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams evacuated around 206 villagers on Sunday following the release of excess water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam. According to district authorities, 18 infants, 15 children, 61 women, and 112 men from three villages, including Gabhana, Akteswar, and Sanjroli, were evacuated and shifted to safer places, as reported by news agency ANI.


• Meanwhile, in Bharuch district, around 2000 people have been shifted to relief camps as water from the Narmada River inundated low-lying areas of the district on Sunday afternoon.


• Following the release of water from the Narmada Dam, the administration of the Narmada district ordered schools and colleges to remain shut on Monday in view of flood reports in many villages.


• The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams on Sunday rescued as many as 105 people stranded in low-lying areas in Gujarat's Bharuch district following heavy rainfall in the region. The rescue operation was carried out at Nikora Village in Bharuch district.


• The surge in water levels in the Narmada River, emanating from the release of substantial amounts of water from the Sardar Sarovar dam (SSD), compounded by heavy rainfall in the catchment regions of Madhya Pradesh, led to extensive flooding in low-lying areas of Narmada district.


• The aftermath of the flooding caused the relocation of 9,613 flood-affected individuals to safer locations. Bharuch registered the largest group of evacuees, totaling 5,744, followed by 2,317 in Narmada, 1,462 in Vadodara, 20 in Dahod, and 70 in Panchmahal, PTI reported.


• Notably, those shifted to safer areas involved residents from 28 affected villages, as well as individuals in proximity to the world's tallest monument, the Statue of Unity, situated in Narmada district. The swelling Narmada River triggered flooding in parts of Vadodara and Bharuch districts situated along the riverbanks, as per PTI's report.
