Goa Forest Fire: The forest fire in the coastal state of Goa continues with fresh fires emerging from different areas. The state government is acting in full strength with cooperation from Indian Air Force, and Navy to douse the flames and reduce the damage to also low as possible. Goa forest minister Vishwajit Rane is updating about the situation continuously through his social media handles on Twitter and Facebook. As for the latest, PMO has assured all sorts of aid to the state and PM Modi is also monitoring the situation.

  • Goa minister Vishwajit Rane said that the state government has received an intimation from the Prime Minister's office that the Defence Ministry would provide full support and the office of the Prime minister will monitor the situation closely.


 



  • Rane expresses gratitude to PM Modi and says, "As the Goa state's Minister of Forests, I can't begin to express my gratitude to the Honourable Prime Minister. We will keep the Honourable Prime Minister's office updated on a daily basis on the state of fires.


 



  • Two IAF helicopters have begun sorties to put out the fire early on Saturday. 504 manpower have been deployed to manage the situation further. 


 



  • Six new fires were reported after 10 PM on Friday and till 10 AM on Saturday. Two of these were put out while four are active.

  • Goa minister Rane confirms the discussion with the PCCF Rajiv Gupta, APCCF Saurabh Kumar and Collector. He said he urged to mobilize additional people on behalf of the Disaster Management Cell.


 



  • Goa government submitted a thorough report to the offices of PM Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh updating the situation.


More than 50 fire incidents have been reported since March 5, when the first forest fire was reported in the state. 


The state government said that the fire was reported in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary in the large area including Charavane, Chorla Ghat, Pali, and Satrem. Minister Rane said that the fire is mostly 'man-made' and an inquiry is in progress to find out miscreants.
