From The Court Archives: Trial Court Analysis Of Approver Statement That Led To Savarkar's Acquittal In Mahatma Gandhi Assassination Case

The Delhi High Court e-Museum has recently made available on its website the original judgment passed by the trial court in Mahatma Gandhi Assassination case.

On January 20, 1948, at about 5 pm at Birla House, New Delhi, Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead by Nathuram V. Godse. The assassination of one of the tallest world leaders of the time, within months of the country's hard-earned Independence from the British, had shocked the world. The murder trial began soon, and remained one of the most discussed, referenced, and widely debated cases in Indian history.  The investigation went on for over 21 months, and Godse was hanged, along with co-accused
