NEW DELHI: After intense drama over who will form a government in Karnataka, the oath taking ceremony put an end to all speculations today. Here BJP's BS Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the 23rd CM of Karnataka.

Previously, Supreme Court had refused to stay BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa's swearing-in as Karnataka chief minister after a rare post-midnight courtroom battle unfolded dramatically over the Congress-JD(S) combine's legal push to stall the government formation.

75 year old Yeddyurappa is the biggest face of Bharitya Janta Party in the state of Karnataka. He started as the clerk of a rice mill and later joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Yeddyurappa was elevated in BJP. He was able to take the chair of chief minister of Karnataka.

Born Feb 27, 1943 to Siddalingappa and Puttathayamma in Bookanakere in Mandya. Interestingly, Yeddyurappa saw no future for him in the BJP in 2004 and thought of quitting it to join the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), headed by former prime minister H. D. Deve Gowda.
