"Seen from a philosophical angle, coronavirus is also a living organism. It has the right to live like the rest of us. But we (humans) think ourselves to be the most intelligent and are out to eliminate it. So it is constantly mutating itself," he told a private news channel.

However, he said a person needs to outpace the virus to stay safe.

Looks like Trivendra Singh Rawat's articulation has not been too welcomed by the netizens as several are trolling him over the statement. Here are some funny reactions.

For the uninitiated, Trivendra Singh Rawat was the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and in a dramatic turn of events was made to resign in March 2021. Following his departure, Tirath Singh Rawat took over the top post. While various reasons are speculated for BJP's decision to oust him, the most cited one is that his party colleagues were unhappy with his style of functioning and feared losing the state in the upcoming assembly election.

Tirath Singh Rawat too, soon after assuming the office of CM, got widely criticised for his infamous comments on women who wear ripped jeans.
