Former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa's granddaughter Soundarya was found hanging at a private apartment in Bengaluru. Postmortem is going on at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, reported ANI.

Soundarya was the daughter of Yediyurappa’s eldest daughter Padma.

Her death has sent shock waves in the state of Karnataka. Sitting Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is understood to have rushed to the hospital to console the senior leader.

Soundarya was a doctor at MS Ramaiah hospital in Bengaluru. According to the police, she was living with her husband, a fellow doctor, and a six-month-old child at an apartment near Mount Carmel College.

Soundarya was married to Dr Neeraj in 2019. The incident reportedly took place around 10 am, when the housekeeper knocked on the door of the room, there was no response from inside. Dr. Neeraj was called after that. When Neeraj opened the door, he saw Soundarya hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. According to the police, prima facie evidence suggests it to be a case of suicide.

"I got the information just now, so I arrived at the hospital; reason is not known to us, the post mortem is over," said KC Madhuswamy, Karnataka Law Minister on former CM BS Yediyurappa's granddaughter Soundarya's demise.
