Agra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch NDA's election campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Uttar Pradesh's Agra. As per reports of the party sources and MP Ram Shankar Katheria, PM Modi will start his campaign from January 9. For the same, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Agra on January 4 to review preparations for Modi's visit.
Notably, Modi had addressed a huge election rally in November 2013 to kick-start the campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha polls, with a Vijay Shankhnad rally at the Kothi Meena Bazar ground. Before the state Assembly elections, Modi had addressed a Parivartan rally in Agra on November 20, 2016. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) feels that Agra has proved lucky for the party which won nine Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats.
Earlier on Tuesday, Modi expressed confidence that the people will again repose faith in the BJP considering the work done by his government over the last four and a half years. Asked whether the upcoming Lok Sabha polls would be "anybody but Modi' contest as projected by the opposition parties, he said, "It is going to be 'janta (public) versus gathbandhan (coalition). Modi is just a manifestation of public love and blessings."
During the interview with new agency ANI, reposing faith in the "intelligence" of the voters, Modi said, "The Indian public will decide the course of elections. The public will decide the agenda, who is for the aspirations of the people, who is against the aspirations of the people. This is going to the yardstick for the elections."
