Greater Noida's Shah Beri village was acquired by GNOIDA. The Supreme Court had, however, cancelled the acquisition of this village. After the court order, many builders had to cancel the project and many were forced to shift their project from here.
Noida Authority had banned construction work in the area. Despite the ban, a large number of illegal constructions were being done in the area
It is also claimed that complaint regarding the illegal construction was made earlier. Still, the building was illegally constructed right under the nose of district administration and Greater Noida authority.
According to the local people, there were about 10-12 families living in the buildings which was completely constructed, while the other building was under construction, in which the workers were working.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. They are identified as a builder and his two associates.
