A fire broke out on Sunday at a commercial building in Kolkata near Chandni Chowk market, officials said, news agency PTI reported. According to officials, fifteen fire tenders are on the spot and efforts to douse the fire are underway. More details regarding the incident are awaited. 






On Saturday, a major fire broke out on the Humsafar Express in Gujarat's Valsad. According to news agency ANI, no casualties have been recorded on the train, which operates between Tiruchirappalli and Shri Ganganagar. According to a railway official, fire and smoke were detected in a coach as the train was travelling through Valsad, after which all passengers of the adjacent coach were safely deboarded and the afflicted coach was separated to allow the train to proceed. 


"Fire and smoke were noticed in power car/brake van coach of train number 22498 Tiruchchirappalli Junction to Shri Ganganagar Junction while passing Valsad. All passengers of the adjacent coach were deboarded safely. No casualty was reported. After detaching the coach from this train, it will depart shortly," Sumit Thakur, CPRO, Western Railway stated, as per ANI.


Earlier this month, in a similar incident, a fire broke out at a building near Kolkata's Chandni market. The fire was reported from inside an office on Maddan Street. It was put out at 8.30 p.m., around one and a half hours after it started. Four fire tenders were ultimately put into operation. The fire was contained to the top floor of the five-story structure. Hundreds of people work in the building, which includes various offices, and a few families live there as well. They did, however, have ample time to flee.
