BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Bansuri Swaraj, and Hemang Joshi have filed an FIR against Rahul Gandhi for the incident on the Parliament campus on Thursday. They have named Congress's Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi as "accused no. 1" in their complaint to the Parliament Street police station. BJP MPs — Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi — were injured and hospitalised after protests on the Parliament campus took an unfortunate turn. The two MPs fell down as the protesting leaders from both the ruling and Opposition alliances jostled near the Makardwar gate of Parliament.
Sarangi claimed that Rahul Gandhi pushed Rajput, who fell on him knocking him to the ground. Sarangi was hospitalised with a bleeding temple while Rajput was undergoing treatment in the ICU till the last reports came in at 2 PM. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, claimed that the BJP MPs prevented him from going into the Lok Sabha and threatened him.
"Today I saw the BJP MPs being hostile and threatening towards Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and LOP Rahul Gandhi. The BJP MPs had sticks in their hands. I saw with my own eyes how Shri Mallikarjun Kharge was being threatened and pushed," Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said.
The Congress even claimed that the BJP MPs protesting against it were armed with sticks. The Congress also wrote to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla alleging that Rahul Gandhi was "manhandled".
The FIR was lodged
Reacting to the BJP registering a police complaint, Congress MP and Rahul Gandhi's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: "The BJP is conspiring [against Rahul] to save Amit Shah. We have been protesting for so many days; nothing happened. These people have done all this."
