Former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan was taken into judicial custody on Saturday after being arrested by the Delhi Police for misbehaving with a constable and using abusive language against him. His bail hearing is scheduled for Monday, news agency ANI reported.
On Friday, a police officer saw a crowd near the Tayyab Masjid locality. He later discovered that the father of Congress MCD Counselor candidate Ariba Khan, together with his followers, was addressing the crowd with a loud hailer. When the constable asked him for EC permission for the meeting, Asif Khan became agitated and began misbehaving with him.
“Asif used abusive language & manhandled the constable. Complaint registered against Asif in PS Shaheen Bagh, investigation underway,” ANI quoted Delhi Police as saying.

In connection with the earlier filed FIR, the police apprehended Asif Khan on Saturday. "The main accused, former Congress MLA Asif Mohd Khan, has been arrested," the police stated. An FIR has been filed at the Shaheen Bagh Police Station. While arresting the accused, two other people, Minhaaz and Saabir, were detained. Their involvement in the aforementioned FIR is being investigated."
MCD elections in Delhi are set for December 4, with vote counting taking place on December 7.
