After the Supreme Court order, gangster Mukhtar Ansari who is currently lodged in Punjab’s Ropar Jail will be transferred to Banda jail in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Preparations are underway as Banda Jail has been turned into a fortress with tight security. A special team has been led by Prayagraj zone ADG Prem Prakash to bring Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab to UP. 


ADG Prem Prakash is well known in Uttar Pradesh for his strict nature and keeping the law and order under control. Prem Prakash is an encounter specialist. Prayagraj's ADG Prem Prakash is from Delhi and is a 1993 batch IPS officer. Prem Prakash has also done an MD course in Police Management after pursuing BTech in graduation. Prem Prakash is known for taking tough and quick decisions and getting the work done.

IPS Prem Prakash has also worked in several districts in UP including Moradabad, Agra, and Delhi-NCR.  


Mukhtar Ansari would be brought to Banda Jail by road. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh sent a letter to Additional Chief Secretary Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi regarding the matter and which mentions that the strongman will be handed over to the Uttar Pradesh government before April 8th.


According to sources, the teams have left for Punjab and are following different routes keeping a check on which will be the safest and shortest route to bring Mukhtar Ansari back to Ropar.


Mukhtar Ansari's wife suspects fake encounter, writes to President


The wife of jailed mafia don-turned politician Mukhtar Ansari has written to President Ram Nath Kovind urging him to ensure adequate security for him when he is transferred from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh following a Supreme Court direction. In her letter released to the media on Wednesday, Afshan Ansari claimed that her husband, who is a BSP MLA from Mau, is an eyewitness in a case and the accused BJP MLC is threatening to kill him in connivance with the government machinery.


Afshan Ansari said she fears that her husband might be killed "in the guise of a fake encounter" during his transfer from Ropar jail in Punjab to Uttar Pradesh's Banda prison.


Meanwhile, in another update in the case, an ambulance used to ferry gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari to a Mohali court was found abandoned outside a roadside eatery on the Chandigarh-Nangal highway in Punjab's Rupnagar district, police said on Sunday.


Ansari, who is wanted in Uttar Pradesh for various cases, was ferried in the ambulance from the Rupnagar jail to a Mohali court in connection with a 2019 case of extortion. 


Amid tight security arrangements, Ansari was taken to the court in a wheelchair. He was sent back to the Rupnagar jail, where he is lodged since January 2019, in the ambulance after the court appearance.
