New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a meeting today in the national capital to finalise the schedule for Assembly elections scheduled in five states and Union Territory (UT). Elections to select the legislative assembly for states including West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry. Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry are expected in April-May. The full bench of the EC led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has already visited all five states and held meetings with political parties, officials and others.
Officials of the Election Commission also visited the five poll-bound states on a number of occasions to review the preparedness for the polls and plug the loopholes in holding the polls.
As per reports, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain, who is in charge of West Bengal, will visit the state on Thursday to oversee the preparedness for the upcoming assembly elections.

During his visit, Jain is scheduled to hold meetings with several officials of state administration including district magistrates, police superintendents and other senior officials of the state.
The top EC official may also seek a report on the deployment of the central forces in different districts. The ECI on Monday formed a three-member committee to oversee the deployment of the central forces in West Bengal.
